PIRATES OF CHAOS

Anyone who has ever undertaken a one-off house clearance knows how exhausting it is. But some people make a living doing just that. Their life orbits around the business – any time is perfect for a good deal. Finding, buying, storing and re-selling objects found in houses where owners no longer live. Some of these objects probably had huge sentimental value for their previous inhabitants or could even be a talisman for others – but not anymore: their sentimental meaning has to be defined again. The main characters of this series are trained to identify the monetary value of things: what it is worth the purchase (treasure) and what should go to the skip (waste). They are the curators of new sentiments, of new memories, of new relations between humans and those objects.

This series is the result of a year sharing my work space with a small house clearance business.
